Self taught

I really love the idea of teaching yourself something like what was shown in the video. When you are your own teacher, you know exactly what way is best for you to learn. When you are learning independently, there is no worry about schoolwork or a teacher bugging you, you can focus just on learning what it is you want to learn. Coming from a student who already has independent study, it makes you feel very free just being able to focus on your work. There is no worry about falling behind, about homework, or even about projects. It should be expected that these things will still require you to do some work at home and put together a big project, but its more voluntary then it is in other classes. It's less of "I have to do this to get a good grade" and more of "I gotta do this if I want to be ready to move on to the next step". Also, this system eliminates the demotivating feeling of so much time being wasted on something that will never help you out at all. it's all voluntary, you are learning something that many kids will enjoy and find useful, and it's effective, how much better could it get?
The only downside to this is the fact that to learn, you need to have an interest or motivation to learn, which no school s without kids who meet these requirements. Some kids need to structured school system with teachers and grades because these things are the only thing that will push them to learn at least something that could come in handy in the future.
No system is without it's flaws, but the independent study idea can do a lot of good for so many students if given the chance
